Providence Alaska Medical Center is committed to nursing scholarship, including evidence-based practice, research, innovation and quality improvement.  We believe that it is through Clinical Scholarship that we are able to continuously advance our practice and achieve high-quality outcomes in all nurse-sensitive indicators.

Research and Evidence-Based Practice

Providence Alaska Medical Center is committed to improving the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of its delivery of quality care by integrating evidence-based practice throughout all levels of nursing.

Our efforts have been pivotal in improving patient outcomes. Direct-care nurses practice this model by asking clinical practice questions and using provided support and tools to investigate. Our Learning Institute is a key asset in supporting research and evidence-based practice by supplying access to thousands of journals and other titles across the Providence St. Joseph Health System.

One resource at PAMC is our Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS). CNS are advanced practice registered nurses who focus on driving quality improvement by introducing the latest evidence so that caregivers are providing cutting- edge care!

Nursing Role in Medical Research

Nurses play a vital role in medical research at PAMC through enrolling and monitoring patients in clinical trials.  The clinical trials focus on many areas to include cancer treatment, gynecological care, and cystic fibrosis treatments.
