  • ALIF (Anterior lumbar interbody fusion) – a lumbar spinal fusion utilizing the assistance of a vascular surgeon through an abdominal approach
  • Posterior cervical fusion – Fuses neck bones with instrumentation in the back side of the neck
  • Lumbar fusion – Uses lower back bones with instrumentation through the back of the spine
  • Robot-guided spinal fusion – Uses a robotic arm and special navigation (Globus™ or MazorX ™) to help surgeons place screws in the spine and/or a mobile CT scan (Globus Excelsius3D™ or Medtronic O-armTM) to provide real-time images during surgery
  • Thoracolumbar lumbar fusion for scoliosis – Removes damaged portions of the spine and replaces them with healthy bone
  • Minimally invasive fusion – Utilizes a smaller incision and techniques
  • XLIF (Extreme lateral interbody fusion) – Surgery that accesses the spine through the side of the body
  • ACDF (anterior cervical discectomy and fusion) – Removes a damaged disc to relieve spinal cord or nerve root pressure in the cervical (neck) region

Our Preoperative Clinic helps you get ready for your upcoming procedure at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Through this service, you’ll complete any necessary preoperative tests and paperwork. You’ll also learn more about the procedure you’re undergoing and be given the opportunity to ask any questions or voice concerns.

Your Preoperative Clinic appointment should be completed in person or over the phone a few days before your procedure. The appointment should be scheduled at the same time your procedure is scheduled.
