Our birth centers combine the comforts of home with high-tech equipment and high-touch resources. We offer support at every step to ease your childbirth experience.

• Obstetrics ED: Whether you are going into labor or have another emergent issue, our triage department just for pregnant patients is here to triage and provide needed treatment. 
• Birthing Suites: Our private, spacious birthing suites include a soaking tub and soft lighting to enhance your laboring experience. Each birthing suite has a family area with sleeper sofa, television, and free Wi-Fi access.
• OR Suites: If you require a Cesarean Section, the Family Birth Center is equipped with its own operating rooms. 
• Postpartum Suite: After you deliver, you and your baby will be taken to a roomy postpartum suite where you’ll remain until you’re discharged. This room also includes a sleeper sofa for guests and free Wi-Fi access.
• Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit: If additional care is needed, we offer a 13-bed Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Our special care nursery takes care of newborns who are 32-week gestation and above. We collaborate with Seattle Children’s tele-Neonatology program to evaluate and treat babies that may need more advanced care, keeping them closer to home whenever possible. 

Our team of experts work together to ensure that welcoming a new child to your family is everything you imagined it to be. 

During labor and delivery your care team may include:  

• Anesthesiologists: Providers that provide pain relief for labor, such as epidurals, and anesthesia for cesarean deliveries.
• Certified Nurse Midwives: A certified health professional who helps healthy women during labor, delivery, and after the birth of their babies.
• Family Practice Doctors: Primary care providers that are trained to care for both adult and pediatric patients, including delivering babies. 
• Labor & Delivery Nurses: Specialized nurses that help care for mothers and newborns during labor and after birth.  
• Obstetrician-Gynecologists: A healthcare professional that specializes in female reproductive health and, specifically in the family birth center, delivers babies.

After your baby has arrived you may see some additional members on your care team:

• Lactation Consultants:  A certified health professional who specializes in breastfeeding, assisting parents and infants with issues like milk supply, sore nipples and breastfeeding positions. 
• Neonatal Nurses: A nurse who works with newborn infants in our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Level I Nursery who need additional medical support after birth. 
• Pediatricians: Providers that work in the birth centers and will examine your baby after delivery, during their stay, and prior to discharge. 

To keep things on track and in line with your wishes, download our birth plan form and share your completed form with your care provider before your eighth month of pregnancy. You’ll want to have a copy ready when you come to the hospital to deliver your baby. 

Support group meets every Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. via Zoom. If you’d like to participate, please call 360-486-4070 on the day of the meeting to confirm the group is meeting that day. If you breastfeed and are able, please consider donating milk for other infants in need, such as premature or medically fragile infants who don’t have access to breast milk. Our certified lactation nurses will answer your questions about becoming a breast milk donor. They’ll assist you with the screening process and delivery to a certified milk bank.
