Welcome to Nursing at St. Peter Hospital
Nurses at PSPH share a common goal in living the Providence promise ”know me, care for me, ease my way,” and continually contribute to the high standards that our patients and families expect when they enter our doors. Our registered nurses first expressed their desire to pursue Magnet recognition in 2005. They knew that this journey of professional practice would be one worth taking, not merely for the Magnet designation, but because the journey to nursing excellence fulfilled their personal and professional drive to achieve.
Our nurses are an amazing group of professionals. They are passionate about delivering exceptional care, advancing quality and patient safety, and developing educational and leadership skills. We were overjoyed to receive our initial Magnet designation in 2010 and redesignation in 2015, and have continued our Magnet journey through nursing excellence at PSPH. PSPH is one of three hospitals in the state of Washington to achieve this honor.
On January 6, 2020, Suzanne “Suzie” Scott assumed the role of Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Providence Southwest Washington. Suzie comes to us from Madigan Army Medical System in Tacoma, where she serves as Chief Operating Officer, having been promoted from the position of Chief Nursing Executive.
Suzie received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University. She received Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Administration from the University of Colorado Health Science Center, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army College, Carlisle, PA.
Suzie’s 30 years of leadership experience within complex healthcare systems, including over nine years as a chief nursing executive, will serve us well in her role as the new Southwest Chief Nursing Officer. She comes with a proven track record leading and managing complex medical organizations. Suzie has demonstrated passion for building positive relationships, investing in people through personnel development and mentorship. She is also skilled in high reliability systems and has successful change and strategic management acumen.
