Providence John Gabriel House apartment complex is located in the heart of downtown Redmond, WA across the street from the Redmond Senior Center and Redmond Regional Library, and close to the Redmond Transit Center.

The building includes 74 apartments for seniors age 62 and older whose household income does not exceed 60% of the Area Median as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Monthly rent on some apartments is subsidized by King County Housing Authority. Monthly rent on apartments that are not subsidized will be set at rates affordable to low-income households. Providence ElderPlace operates a PACE Center (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) at John Gabriel House. Residents are not required to participate in ElderPlace, nor are ElderPlace participants required to live at John Gabriel House. Providence John Gabriel House is named after Sister John Gabriel who was the general supervisor of nursing training schools operated by the Sisters of Providence in the 1910s. Sister John Gabriel later served as a hospital consultant, taught hospital administration courses, and also authored several books on the topic.

In order to submit an application for housing at Providence John Gabriel House, you must meet the following initial eligibility requirements. Other eligibility criteria for housing will be verified when an application reaches the top of the wait list (e.g. criminal background check, student status, etc.).

  • At the time of application, the head of household, spouse or co-head of household must be 62 years of age or older
  • Maximum household size for a studio or one-bedroom apartment is two persons
  • Minimum household size for a two-bedroom apartment is two persons, and the maximum household size is five persons, depending on household composition
  • A few apartments are subsidized by King County Housing Authority
  • Apartments are designated for households at or below 30%, 40% and 60% of area median income for household size as determined by HUD and rents are fixed based on those designations
  • The maximum allowable household income as of May 29th, 2024 is as follows, based on the size of the household:
    • 1-Person Household: $57,540
    • 2-Person Household: $65,760
    • 3-Person Household: $73,980

Please note that we will run a tenant screening report when qualified applicants reach the top of the wait list. There is no charge to applicants for running the report, and the report is usable only for properties owned and managed by Providence. For information about our screening criteria, refer to the Tenant Selection Plan. If you have completed a comprehensive reusable tenant screening report at another property, you may choose to share that with us, but you are not required to do so.

Providence John Gabriel House is a controlled-access apartment building with elevator access to all floors. We offer 74 apartments, with a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

We are able to accommodate a variety of special needs including mobility, vision and hearing impairments. Accessible units may be equipped with roll-in showers, wider doorways, open vanities, lower light switches and additional grab bars in the bathrooms. In addition, we are able to provide wireless doorbells with visual alerts and safety range burners on request.

Our location in the heart of downtown Redmond makes Providence John Gabriel House a great place to live, with easy access to shopping, the Redmond Senior Center, the regional Library, banks, restaurants and much more.

Getting Started

Interested in living at Providence John Gabriel House? Follow these steps to check your eligibility, review some important information about applying for and living in HUD subsidized housing and complete your application.

Completed applications must be printed, signed and mailed to the management office of the House(s) you’re applying to. Applicants who appear to meet all eligibility requirements will be added to the wait list and will be contacted when their application nears the top.

Please review the documents in the Documents tabbed box before completing your application.

Please print the application by clicking on the link below. Complete all sections of the application and required attachments, sign where required, and mail your application to the address listed on the application form. Incomplete applications will be returned to you, causing a delay in addition your application to the wait list. If you have any questions while you are completing these materials, please contact the management office.

Follow Up

Once we have received your completed, signed application, you will receive a letter confirming that your application has been added to the wait list for housing. Please allow 10 business days from the date you mail your application for us to receive and process it. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant without being added to the waitlist.

If your phone number or address changes, or you have a change in household composition, income, or other circumstances that may affect your application, you must contact the office to update your information with us.
