The Fred A. Jordan Family Radiation Oncology Center combines the latest technological advances with the expertise of board-certified radiation oncologists considered among the best in their field. The result is we’re able to fight cancer more precisely and successfully than ever before, offering our patients better outcomes and fewer side effects.
We are at the forefront of using breakthroughs in radiotherapy to improve cure rates and safeguard our patients’ health, while also increasing patient convenience. Some of these advances include:
- Accelerated partial breast irradiation therapy for breast cancer, making treatment shorter and far more convenient
- Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), allowing real-time correction for subtle changes in tumor location—while creating sub-millimeter accuracy
- Sophisticated 4-D treatment planning featuring computer-guided simulation to precisely control the amount of radiation given and create customized treatment plans, shaping hundreds of beams to target a tumor with unmatched precision
- High-dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy to provide concentrated, shortened therapy for breast, prostate and gynecological cancers
- Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) for tumors close to vital structures, using beams from many more directions to allow higher doses to very precise targets
- Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), delivering radiation to brain lesions in a single treatment with scalpel-like accuracy
Our radiation oncologists are part of the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, allowing our patients to benefit from excellence of two of Southern California’s best radiation oncology programs.
Working alongside these highly experienced radiation oncologists are St. Jude Medical Center physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, radiation oncology nurses, nutritionists, social workers and other professionals—each of whom understands the healing power of compassion.
Our radiation oncology experts also closely collaborate with specialists throughout the St. Jude Crosson Cancer Institute, including medical oncologists, surgeons and radiologists, ensuring that whether radiation therapy is your primary treatment—or just one aspect of your treatment—your care will be coordinated and seamless.
