Visitor Check-in
Read our current visitor policy. All guests visiting the main hospital at 2121 Santa Monica Blvd. are required to check in at the Information Desk before going to their primary visiting location. Information Desks are located in the main entrance off Santa Monica Blvd. and the Emergency Department entrance off Arizona Ave.
At the Information Desk, you will receive a visitor badge to wear in the hospital throughout your visit to ensure our patients’ security and safety. Visitors must check in each day they visit the hospital.
Information Desks are staffed with knowledgeable volunteers and security officers who are happy to assist you with directions or answer any question.
Patient Information, Privacy and Patient Status Inquires
All Providence Saint John’s Health Center caregivers maintain a strong commitment to the protection of the privacy of our patients. Patients have the right to limit access to their medical information and confidentiality. We respect any requests from patients who indicate that they do not wish to have visitors or information shared about their condition.
To inquire about a patient’s status, please call the hospital’s operator at 310-829-5511. Your call will be forwarded to the patient’s unit where you can speak directly with the patient’s nurse or clinician.
Infection Control
The best way to prevent infection is to wash your hands frequently, especially before or after seeing a patient, using the restroom or eating. Hand washing supplies are located in each patient’s room, and hand sanitizer is located throughout the hospital. Insist that your loved one’s health care providers wash their hands and use medical gloves.
Providence Saint John’s follows the American with Disabilities Act Title II and III guidelines on service animal access to public and non-restricted areas.
If a patient has a special medical condition or disease, their medical team may require visitors to take special precautions to prevent the spread of disease.
Family Waiting Rooms and Restrooms
Family waiting rooms are available on every floor of the hospital. Visitor restrooms are conveniently located near these waiting rooms. For assistance finding a family waiting room, please ask the Information Desk on the first floor in the Howard Keck Center or at the patient’s unit.

These areas are open to the public and are all located in the Howard Keck Center:
- Café and Dining Court: 2nd floor
The Café is open Mon - Fri: 6:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Sat - Sun/Holidays: 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. - Irene Dunne Guild Gift Shop: 1st floor
Hours: Mon - Fri: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. - Chapel: 4th floor
Daily mass is held Mon - Fri: 12 p.m. and Sat - Sun: 4 p.m.
Cell Phones and Internet Services
Free visitor wireless Internet is available throughout the Health Center. Cell phone use is allowed in all waiting rooms and common areas but may be restricted in some patient care areas. Please be courteous of other visitors when using cell phones.
Photography and Video
Photographs or filming can take place within the patient room and ONLY of the patient and/or family. NO PHOTOGRAPHY OR FILMING is allowed without a Marketing Representative present. For questions or to obtain approval for photography and/or filming, please call 310-829-4054.
Smoking
Providence Saint John’s Health Center is a non-smoking facility. The City of Santa Monica’s regulations on smoking outdoors can be found at Santa Monica Municipal Code Smoking Prohibitions.
