Internship and Job Shadowing Opportunities

Internships

Internships are school-sponsored opportunities for a high school or college student to get a close up look at the medical field. There are clinical and non-clinical opportunities in their fields of interest.

Requirements include:

  • Greater than 40 hours over 1-3 months.
  • Must be 16+ years of age, must have parental consent if under 18 years old.
  • No-cost background check required.
  • Non-Employee Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement required.

Job Shadowing

Job shadowing is ideal for a student who can spend a limited amount of time at the hospital. High school or college students can spend up to 8 hours learning more about a specific department. There are clinical and non-clinical opportunities. Majority of job shadow availability is Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Weekend exceptions may be approved on a case-by-case basis. Job shadowing is not sponsored by the school, and must be initiated and coordinated by the student and Providence workforce coordinator. Job shadows are limited to observation only and students will not have contact with patients.

Requirements include:

  • Must be a one or two-day experience (up to 8 hours)
  • Must be 16+ years of age, must have parental consent if under 18 years old
  • No-cost background check required
  • Non-Employee Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement required.
