Laboratory Services
The laboratory at Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center provides comprehensive medical laboratory testing services, including high-complexity testing. Our staff is trained and equipped to complete most tests in our facility, so you and your doctor get results quickly and conveniently.
The laboratory is located on the second floor (main floor) of the hospital near the emergency department. We are proud to be a Joint Commission accredited laboratory.
Our staff of certified medical laboratory scientists, technicians and phlebotomists operate under strict quality assurance standards. These standards help us deliver the safest, most accurate medical laboratory testing services possible.
In addition to serving the laboratory testing needs of the hospital, our staff also perform outpatient blood draws and a community health screen. Tests that can’t be completed in our laboratory are sent to other accredited laboratories that have been approved by our leadership team.
We offer a community health screen for adult patients. The screening includes a blood cell count, chemistries and a lipids check. You may request this service during normal business hours and pick up your results at the end of the day or choose to have them mailed to you.
Adults 18 years and older are eligible for this low-cost screening once each year. We provide this as a community service and no insurance is filed.
Stop by the laboratory during business hours to complete blood tests ordered by your doctor, no appointment necessary. Be sure to ask your doctor how you should prepare for your blood test. Some tests require fasting before getting your blood drawn, and others require that you have your blood drawn on a specific date.
