Kathryn Vandewalle joins Providence Swedish as chief nursing officer for PRMCE Pacific Campus
Vandewalle leads nursing at the Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, Pacific Campus and oversees over 500 nurses and caregivers providing women and children compassionate care.
EVERETT, Wash., March 10, 2024 – Kathryn Vandewalle, MSN, MBA, JD, RNC-OB, CENO, NE-BC, has joined Providence Swedish as the new Pacific Campus chief nursing officer at Providence Regional Medical Center Everett (PRMCE). A seasoned nursing operations leader with expertise in health care strategy, nursing operations, patient care, health care administration and organizational development, she oversees over 500 nurses and caregivers providing compassionate care to women and children in Snohomish County.
Vandewalle joins PRMCE from Kaiser Permanente where she most recently she served as the chief nurse executive for Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center, a 302-bed, tertiary-care facility in Clackamas, Ore. There her team earned Newsweek's Best Maternity Hospitals three years in a row. Under Vandewalle’s leadership the team was also recognized by Healthgrades for Outstanding Patient Experience in 2022 and Critical Care Excellence in 2023 and 2024. Her team also improved overall patient experience from a 3.4 overall to 3.7 and reduced the overall postpartum hemorrhage rate to below 7%.
Previously, Vandewalle served in a number of different roles at Kaiser Westside Medical Center, a 122-bed community hospital in Hillsboro, Ore., most recently as chief nurse executive. During her tenure, the maternal child team achieved patient care experience scores above the 90th percentile.
Vandewalle began her career at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Ore. as a labor and delivery staff nurse and relief charge nurse.

Vandewalle holds several degrees including a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in nursing leadership and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Western Governors University; a Juris Doctorate (JD) from the University of Wisconsin Law School; Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee; and a Bachelor of Arts in French language and international relations from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
An avid reader and runner, Vandewalle, is eager to explore running trails, restaurants, coffeeshops, and local bookstores in the community she serves.
