Providence St. Mary receives 2024 Hope Award
Providence St. Mary Medical Center has received the Cascade Life Alliance 2024 Hope Award. Cascade Life Alliance is a federally designated non-profit organ procurement organization.
Cascade Life Alliance Hope Awards recognize the comprehensive work of hospitals that meet or exceed performance standards and demonstrate outstanding efforts to support and achieve optimal donation outcomes.
In 2024, Providence St. Mary supported three organ donors who helped save eight lives through the transplantation of four kidneys, two livers, and two hearts. Cascade Life noted that the caregivers at Providence St. Mary Medical Center “displayed exceptional dedication, passion, and spirit of collaboration in supporting the organ donation process in 2024.”
“Organ donation is the ultimate, selfless gift,” said Patty Harmon, manager of the Providence St. Mary Intensive Care Unit. “At Providence St. Mary, when someone becomes an organ donor, a specialized outside team comes to the hospital. Our caregivers line the hallway for the Walk of Honor as the donor is transported by the organ donation team. We honor the life that has been lost, the selfless act of donation, and the hope of renewed life for the recipients of the organs.”
A teardrop-shaped award was presented to St. Mary by Clayton Arnold, Cascade Life Alliance Hospital Development Coordinator. The shape is meant to symbolize the tears of love, of loss, of life renewed, and of shared gratitude for this final act of kindness.
“At Cascade Life Alliance we are so grateful for dedicated hospital staff, who recognize that amid tragedy there remains hope, not only for someone in need of a transplant, but also for the donor family in the legacy left by their loved one,” Arnold said.
