Candidates for outpatient cardiac rehabilitation include those who have had:
- Heart attack
- Bypass graft surgery or other heart surgeries
- Balloon angioplasty
- Diagnosed heart disease
We also offer cardiac disease prevention services, including a customized exercise program and education classes for people with risk factors such as:
- Elevated cholesterol levels
- High blood pressure
- Smoking
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Overweight
- Excessive stress
The cardiac program consists of four components: medical, exercise, education and psychological. Patients follow carefully planned, individualized programs which include:
- Supervised exercise
- Cardiac monitoring
- Medication
- Nutrition counseling
- Stress management
- Continuing support
Pulmonary rehabilitation is for people with chronic lung disease, such as emphysema, asthma or chronic bronchitis. It is designed to help manage the condition through exercise and education. Participants regain their confidence in their own abilities and feel improvement in their overall quality of life.
Both programs are typically 8 to 12 weeks in length and require referral from a health care provider. Most insurance companies include benefits for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.
