Kadlec Freestanding Emergency Room
Kadlec Freestanding Emergency Room
From the moment you walk in the door of Kadlec's freestanding emergency room (ER), you will find personalized service and timely care that will have you quickly on the road to recovery. We bring services directly to your bedside to maximize the amount of time our staff spends with you.
Our ER team is cross trained in several areas so you don't have to wait for additional medical staff to assist with care. They are part of a unified care team focused on providing responsive treatment and getting you healthy and back home.
If you are having an emergency, call 9-1-1.
At Kadlec emergency rooms, you are treated by providers who are certified in emergency medicine. Hospital and stand-alone ERs are set up to focus on emergencies, not routine health care.
Go to the ER if a person or unborn baby has a life-threatening emergency or could be permanently disabled from an illness or injury.
Call 9-1-1 or go to the ER if someone is experiencing:
- Difficulty breathing
- Heart attack or chest pain
- Head trauma
- Seizures
- Stroke symptoms
- Severe bleeding
- Loss of consciousness
- Fever in a child less than two months of age
If you go to the ER for a problem that is not an emergency, it could take longer to be seen and treated. In addition, it will likely cost more than going to a doctor's office or walk-in clinic. A trip to the ER for an earache, for example, may cost three to four times as much as it would at your doctor's office.
Our emergency room includes:
- Private rooms
- Bedside registration and electronic documentation
- State-of-the-art equipment
- Multiple team activations that include code, trauma, stroke, cardiac and sepsis
In addition, we are:
- A State Designated Level I Cardiac Center
- An accredited Chest Pain Center with emergent catheterization capabilities
- A Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center
- A state designated Level II Stoke Center
- A Level III Trauma Center
Our Kennewick ER was thoughtfully designed to allow for private patient bedside care by the entire ER team. Because the facility is freestanding, all equipment, lab and imaging services are dedicated to your needs. (In a hospital-based ER, those services would all be shared with other departments.)
The layout of the building means you and your family get the greatest comfort, privacy and convenience.
Please note: Emergency rooms see patients based on the severity of their illness, symptoms or injuries – not on a first-come, first-served basis. It is necessary to be clear and specific when describing your illness. This helps us provide the best possible medical care as quickly as possible.
Kadlec's freestanding ER provides the same quality emergency care as Kadlec's hospital-based emergency department, but operations are slightly different. The facility is specially designed for your privacy, comfort and convenience. It has its own equipment, lab and imaging services that do not have to be shared (like they are in a hospital-based facility).
Because the staff is cross trained in multiple disciplines, they are able to work as a unified team and focus on providing quick, responsive treatment, drastically reducing wait times.

Kadlec's freestanding ER is open around the clock, while Kadlec Urgent Care hours are more limited: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Our freestanding ER is staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians and advance practice providers. At Kadlec Urgent Care, our physicians and advance practice providers are certified in family medicine.
Our freestanding ER is fully equipped to take care of life-threatening illnesses, while our Urgent Care centers off the same level of medical treatment you'd find at a primary care clinic.
Freestanding ER facilities have their own equipment, lab and imaging services. These are dedicated to our patient's needs and do not compete with hospital needs. This means you get faster service, more efficient treatment and minimal wait times.
Kadlec Urgent Care is unable to treat workplace injuries at this time.
Our freestanding ER teams are specially trained in multiple disciplines, allowing them to provide a continuum of care to their patients. They are part of a unified care team, focused on providing responsive treatment. Our team includes:
- Board certified physicians
- Mid-level providers including nurse practitioners and physician assistants
- Certified emergency nurses
Kadlec is meeting community demand. We have offered medical services throughout the Tri-Cities in many ways: through primary and specialty care physician clinics, urgent care centers and now this new model of emergency care.
Looking at the community's continued population growth, the currently available emergency services are not enough to meet demand. Overcrowded, congested emergency rooms put additional stress on both hospitals and emergency services. Freestanding ERs help to relieve that stress while also offering faster care.
