Library Services
Literature Searches: Literature search assistance is available to all staff upon request. Contact us with your topic or clinical question, and we are happy to perform searches in our databases and online for relevant articles.
Current Awareness/Topic Alert Searches: Current Awareness searches can be requested by employees to be delivered to their email on a regular basis (e.g. every 2 weeks, or quarterly). This allows employees to be sure that they are staying current on new evidence in their area of specialty or field of interest.
Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan: The library will provide just-in-time delivery of electronic documents (both articles that originate as e-resources, as well as scanned copies of print articles) directly to staff email. In addition to the many titles available through the libraries’ subscriptions, the library will procure through interlibrary loan networks any title which it does not own. The normal timeline is same day, but these articles can be delivered within an hour or two for urgent patient care.
Table of Contents Service: Table of Contents (TOC) services, which allow employees to keep abreast of what is being published in peer-reviewed journals. Staff can request TOC service for multiple journals to be delivered by email, and then request or automatically access articles of interest.
Scholarly Communications Services: The library collects scholarly publication, presentations, and posters in our institutional repository, Digital Commons. Additionally, the library helps authors find journals for their publications, provides citation management resources and education (on-site or virtual), and consults on copyright questions.
Specialized Research: More in depth research beyond a normal search of the literature to provide detailed business decision support.
Training in Database Searching: One-on-one or group training sessions on the use of library databases or even expert Internet searching (in person or virtual).
Educational Support: Search training (on-site and virtual), document delivery, and proctoring (on-site only). The library is here to support employees and physicians who are furthering their education.
Individual Materials Requests: Consult your librarian about any books or journal requests.
Archival Storage: The library can store digital and physical materials such as infrequently used educational materials.
