Spiritual Health

We are here for the health of your body, mind, and spirit. We trust that your unique spirituality is what makes you who you are, and we are committed to supporting spiritual health. Chaplains are here to support the emotional and spiritual well-being of our caregivers, patients, and their loved ones. Wherever you find yourself on your spiritual journey, we are here for you.

Our professional chaplains are skilled and trained to care for the whole person (mind, body, and spirit) coming from any spiritual and faith backgrounds or practices. As wonderfully unique persons, we are created with a sense of connection, relatedness, meaning, and purpose. This can be understood as a person’s spirituality, and it may be viewed through the lens of a particular religion, faith tradition or practice, or a connection outside of established spiritualities. Our professional chaplains are available to you to support your spiritual needs.

Our professionally trained chaplains are here to provide confidential and respectful care for you. Our focus is on supporting and encouraging a deeper spiritual understanding as well as promoting spiritual health and wellness. Our chaplains provide an approach to spiritual health that allows us to serve the unique needs of each person while respecting the individual’s spiritual path. We seek to honor the religious and faith traditions of all, including those who do not identify with any religion or spiritual practice. Our chaplains are available and eager to provide emotional and spiritual support to help ease the way of all who enter our care.

We seek to listen to and honor your unique needs. Our chaplains will complete spiritual assessments, provide interventions, and refer to other disciplines of care as needed. Our chaplains are here to ease your way, offering gentle, caring, and holistic spiritual support with the goal of integrating the mind, body, and spirit of those we provide care for. Your chaplain will address concerns regarding:

  • Loss of meaning and/or joy in life
  • Spiritual or religious issues
  • Concerns related to death and grief
  • Emotional and spiritual well-being
  • Mindfulness and prayer resources
  • Reconnecting/connecting to a community of support
  • Affirming the goodness within

As wonderfully unique persons, we all need connection, meaning and purpose in our lives. This can be understood as a person’s spirituality, and it may be viewed through the lens of a particular religion, faith tradition or practice, or a connection outside of established spiritualities.

Common spiritual health concerns include desiring peace, pursuing better balance in life, and seeking to make meaning out of life events, to name a few examples.

Spiritual health caregivers are professional chaplains. They are skilled and trained to care for the whole person (mind, body, and spirit) from any spiritual and faith backgrounds or practices.

A chaplain will meet with you and take some time to get to know you and your spiritual health concerns. They will listen, offer any resources that might be helpful, and seek to meet your spiritual health concerns in the best ways possible.

A spiritual health visit is a confidential way to speak to a professional chaplain about spiritual health concerns. To ensure safety, confidentiality is maintained except in emergency circumstances where self-harm, abuse, or threats of harm to others are discussed.

You can access spiritual health services through the spiritual health departments in our ministry locations. You may request a chaplain visit by speaking with the doctors, nurses, or other caregivers serving your needs.

Spiritual health is available for all caregivers, patients, and loved ones to help meet spiritual needs that arise. If you have the spiritual supports you need in your community, you are encouraged to utilize them. Spiritual health services may provide you additional resources.
