Providence Little Company of Mary recognized among Newsweek's America's Best Maternity Hospitals 2024 for the second year in a row

For the second year in a row, Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance (PLCMT) was recognized on Newsweek’s annual list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2024, a recognition based in part on professional recommendations from leaders in the field.

“Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance is honored to be recognized on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2024. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our  caregivers, physicians and volunteers, who bring new life to the South Bay each day” said Michael Ricks, chief executive, Los Angeles-Coastal Service Area.

Providence Little Company of Mary

At PLCMT, expecting and new parents receive world-class family-centered care in a peaceful, healing environment. As part of PLCMT’s commitment to providing parents individualized care, families receive support from a comprehensive team of experts, including a board-certified team of OB/GYNs, doulas, 24/7 on-site neonatology and OB physician support, pediatricians, midwives and an OB navigator providing guidance and support.

In addition to this recognition from Newsweek, PLCMT is the only South Bay hospital to earn recognition from U.S. News & World Report for high performance in maternity care. PLCMT credits this recognition to their doula program and OB navigator who guides patients through pregnancy, delivery and postpartum.

“It is our mission to provide new families with all the services they need for a memorable birth, which is why we offer a doula program and midwifery services for our patients,” Ricks said. “With over 2,600 babies

born at our medical center this past year, the most in the South Bay, we are humbled that the community trusted us to provide their families with compassionate, world-class maternity care.”

The hospital is also proud to have a C-section rate below the national guideline of 23.6 percent, for first-time moms, and among the lowest in the South Bay. The low C-section rate means that mothers recover faster and avoid having a major abdominal surgery, which could lead to complications and effect subsequent births.

Whether your delivery is natural or high-risk, PLCMT support team is well-trained to provide expert clinical and compassionate care. When it comes to such a sacred moment in life, Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance is here for you and your family.

Newsweek and Statista invited hospital managers and medical professionals to participate in the survey. Of those that responded, 404 hospitals were recognized.
