New residents coming to South Puget Sound
Each year, Providence invests millions of dollars to support Graduate Medical Education, including family medicine physicians, pharmacists and dental residents. For this year, we proudly welcome our incoming class of 16 residents for:
- St. Peter Family Medicine (7)
- Chehalis Rural Training Program (3)
- St. Peter Summit Pacific Rural Training Program (2)
- Ambulatory Pharmacy (1)
- General Practice Dental Residency (3)
The Providence St. Peter Family Residency Program started more than 30 years ago. More than 175 residents have graduated from the program and about one-third stay in the community.
The program expanded to Chehalis is 2014, and with the rural residency program, Providence Medical Group continues to expand patients’ options while continuously bringing more community-minded physicians to Lewis County.
Since opening in 2019, the Neighborcare Health Dental Clinic at Providence St. Peter Hospital has provided a huge benefit to the community by offering general and emergency dental services to families and individuals who have difficulty accessing care, Medicaid patients in particular. All are welcome, and no one is turned away due to their inability to pay.
With the help and success of these residency programs, Providence is expanding access to care for our community.
