CORE project spotlight: War on Melanoma, Data for Change, and more!

With fall right around the corner and a new year on the horizon, the team at the Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CORE) is gearing up for a variety of new and renewed projects focused on cancer, early education, data capacity and more. Here are a few highlights and ways to learn more.

Care Connect Washington

Care Connect Washington works with various regional hubs to provide necessities like food and personal care items to individuals across Washington State who had to isolate or quarantine at home due to COVID-19, while also helping connect these individuals to other essential needs and services. CORE is partnering with the Washington State Department of Health to assess key goals of the program, including its impact on COVID-19 spread. Read more

Data for Change Year II

Continuing our partnership with the Providence Community Health Division, we’re proud to extend CORE’s Data for Change program for a second year! After a successful year with our first cohort of seven community-based organizations, we’ll bring together a new group and help them grow their capacity to use data to support positive and lasting change. Early Discussion and Resolution Program

The Oregon Patient Safety Commission’s Early Discussion & Resolution program provides patients and families a confidential, safe, and transparent mechanism for having conversations with providers following incidents of patient harm. CORE will provide technical assistance and consulting services to help inform OPSC's data strategy for the program. Learn more  

Right From the Start

Oregon Public Health Institute's (OPHI) Right from The Start (RFTS) is a culturally-specific program focusing on childcare providers in Portland’s African/African American/Black community. CORE is working with the RFTS team to support their growth by doing an environmental scan and creating a data development strategy that focuses on the early education workforce in Oregon and where the program fits among the region’s early childhood organizations and efforts. War on Melanoma

We’re excited to team up with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to support the War on Melanoma initiative. CORE will help evaluate the impacts of this major public health campaign on melanoma screening and identification, adding to our growing cancer research portfolio and advancing our understanding of how public health messaging impacts prevention.
