Teri’s Experience
Teri is a real patient. In 2017, she discovered a lump in her breast during a self-exam. After a mammogram and biopsy, Teri received a breast cancer diagnosis and met with her oncologist for the first time.
She still recalls being handed all the details that she needed to make future appointments and additional information about the supportive care services offered at the Providence Swedish Cancer Institute. That’s when Teri knew that she had the right care team in place.
She always felt encouraged to make time for joy and mindfulness amidst her diagnosis. She was able to receive acupuncture, nutrition and grief counseling, and massage therapy. Additionally, Teri took art, music therapy and mediation classes while following the detailed, personalized treatment plan provided by her oncologist.
Ron’s Experience
Ron is a real patient. In 2023, his cancer went into remission with the help of Providence Swedish.
When Ron first received a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, he thought his worst fears had come true. But the unwavering attitude of his care team – from his oncologists to the front desk staff to the nurses that sat with him during his chemotherapy treatments – gave Ron hope that he could recover.
Now, as a cancer survivor, their continued support has also inspired him to take positive action and help others.
