You’re eligible for Medicare. Now what?

Deciding when and how to start Medicare coverage or start drawing Social Security depends on your unique situation. The Providence difference: Personalized care is just the beginning.

Sometimes you just want to speak with a real person over the phone, and Providence members get just that. Within 60 days of enrollment, newly enrolled Medicare Advantage HMO patients will receive a call from our Onboarding support team. The Onboarding Team provides direct contact via phone or email and will determine if you need case management support including chronic disease management, behavioral health and pharmaceutical support. This same team is available post 60-days to get you connected to the care you need when you need it.

Do you already have a list of medications that you’re taking? If so, the Onboarding team will assist you to bridge the gap until your initial appointment with Providence. They can schedule a “focus visit” with a nurse practitioner or a physician assistant to make sure that you don’t run out of needed medications.

Our Nurse Advice Line is available 24/7. Our specialty trained registered nurses help patients determine the best next steps for care. Is it an urgent matter or an emergency? Our Nurse Advice Line can help – 800-809-3555.

We make it easy to schedule in-person or virtual appointments online or by phone. With MyChart or through the Providence app, you have 24/7 access to your health records, as well as ways to message your provider, request prescription refills and more. Many urgent care clinics also offer a "Reserve Your Spot" feature that allows you to view estimated wait times and reserve a spot in line before arriving.

A lot of Medicare Advantage plans proudly feature the Providence network. When you choose a plan that includes our network, you have convenient access to award-winning hospitals, medical offices, urgent care clinics, senior specialty care and more—right in your community. Our teams are connected with each other and work closely to ensure your care is not just coordinated but compassionate too.

Providence auto-approves referrals for specialists when requested by primary care physicians. Our pass-through process requires no prior authorization. Specialties include cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, oncology, orthopedics, OB/GYN, podiatry, sleep medicine and more. If all information in the referral request aligns with the system auto-approval rules, patients will see an immediate “Authorized” status on the referral request.

Sometimes a routine appointment is weeks away. Many of our offices work on a team-based model so a patient may be seen sooner by another team member – all supervised by the member’s primary care physician – ensuring that the patient receives care when they need it.

At Providence, we respect and support the racial, ethnic, religious, gender, sexual and spiritual identities of each of our patients. We are deeply committed to making sure everyone in our diverse communities has equal access to the best health care. To do this, we offer location-specific services that help meet our patients’ needs. This includes translation for non-English-speaking patients, telehealth and transportation assistance. We never turn a patient away, regardless of their ability to pay. Instead, we work harder to make sure every patient is treated equally and with dignity – whoever you are, and wherever you’re at.
