Providence DominiCare - Chewelah
Providence DominiCare - Chewelah
Established by the Dominican Sisters in 1985, Providence DominiCare is the only not-for-profit agency of its kind ministering to residents in Stevens, Pend Oreille and Ferry counties. Serving frail, impaired and elderly individuals who need non-clinical home services, such as personal care, household assistance and family respite, DominiCare helps people maintain their independence.
The first visit will be in your home (or at the hospital if arranged prior to your discharge). The client care coordinator will need to conduct a safety inspection of your home, review your health status, current medications and determine your eligibility for Medicaid or long-term care insurance policy coverage. Please have all of this information available for the initial visit.
Providence DominiCare requires a two-hour minimum for all services in your home.
Providence DominiCare charges on a sliding fee scale, based on your monthly income. Some clients with Medicaid assistance or long-term care insurance policies are eligible to receive our services at greatly reduced rates, and sometimes at no cost.
Our office is just a few blocks away from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Long Term Care Center, in Chewelah, Washington at 110 S Third Street East.

The Dominican Sisters developed Providence DominiCare in 1985 in response to the identified need for transitional care of the elderly and other patients who were discharged from the hospital before they were able to care for themselves. The Sisters also responded to the needs of the well elderly who were functionally impaired by offering assistance with personal care, homemaking services and respite assistance to any person in Stevens County who requested the service.
Providence DominiCare cares for residents in Stevens, Pend Oreille and Ferry counties. Most of our clients are on severely restricted incomes and we are able to offer our services at discounted rates because of generous supporters. Caregivers provide in-home care services using a sliding fee schedule, so that all can receive service regardless of the individual’s ability to pay.
We are able to carry out our mission because of the generous support of individuals, businesses and charitable foundations. 100% of donations made to support Providence DominiCare stay in our region and directly support only patients, caregivers and services provided by our program.
