There’s no need to worry about home maintenance, mowing, watering the lawn or other concerns of home ownership. Of course, you may keep and drive your own vehicle, or let us take you to most destinations, including shopping, medical appointments and day trips.
Providence Down Manor is one of two senior living facilities in Hood River owned and operated by Providence. Together, they make up Providence Senior Village. Each one offers a continuum of living styles specifically structured to address the needs of our seniors in various stages of life.

Our 99-unit independent retirement community is surrounded by picturesque views of the Hood River Valley. Inside Providence Down Manor, you’ll find a relaxed, care-free environment that allows you all the comforts of home. We take care of most meals, housekeeping and even assist with transportation to medical appointments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Our criteria for prospective and current residents are:
- A prospective resident must be at least 62 years of age or have a spouse who is 62 and will also reside at the facility.
- A prospective resident must provide the income information requested by the facility management to ensure their ability to pay necessary rental and service charges.
- A resident must, with reasonable accommodations, be oriented to time, place and person, so as to be mentally competent to meet their daily needs and comply with the facility’s lease.
- A resident must conduct themselves in a manner which doesn’t threaten the health and safety of other residents, staff or the facility itself.
- A resident must, with reasonable accommodations, be able to live according to the following guidelines:
- The person must be able to perform or arrange for assistance with all the following daily living activities: bathing and personal hygiene, toileting, grooming, dressing, eating and medication management.
- The person must be able to perform or have adequate help with all the following activities: shopping, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry and medical needs.
- The person must be able to transfer in and out of a vehicle unassisted.
We offer apartments in three main layouts:
- One bedroom: This unit is approximately 477 square feet, with kitchenette.
- One bedroom plus: This unit is approximately 632 square feet.
- Two bedroom: This unit is approximately 770 square feet.
Please note that actual square footage may vary by apartment. Some units are available with deluxe finishes, please inquire with our office if you’re interested.
We change our menu often to provide a rotation of delightful recipes. Some of the typical meals you could find are:
- Lunch: Salmon with lemon-artichoke cream sauce, Hawaiian chicken and coconut rice, garlic shrimp over linguine
- Dinner: Swiss steak, turkey salad with cranberry dressing, spaghetti with meat sauce
Yes, residents can choose from our a la carte menu, including delicious options such as crab cakes, BLT sandwiches or Caesar salads.
For lunch and dinner, the kitchen requires a two-hour advance notice before the scheduled meal.
No, Providence Down Manor doesn’t charge a buy-in fee. We don’t require a lease to be signed; however, we do require a 30-day move-out notice.
