A patient receives physical therapy in a clinic.

When you’re working hard to recover from an illness or injury, you want access to rehabilitation services close to home. The outpatient rehabilitation clinic at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center provides the therapies you need to return to your regular activities.

Our outpatient rehabilitation program works with your doctor to find therapies that help you improve your strength and flexibility. If needed, we’ll teach you new skills, too. Our goal is to get you back to your regular routine.

Our team of licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech pathologists creates a plan just for you, based on your specific condition.

Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy is a rehabilitation profession. Practitioners are either occupational therapists, or occupational therapy assistants. These professionals focus on what you need, and want, to do every day treating conditions such as:

  • Stroke
  • Memory
  • Arthritis
  • Edema
  • Hand, wrist, elbow injuries
  • Deconditioning

Physical therapy

A surgery or other medical issue can reduce your flexibility and limit your movements. Our physical therapists use exercise therapy to help you:

  • Improve mobility
  • Improve strength
  • Reduce pain
  • Safely perform activities

Speech therapy

Our speech therapists work with patients of any age, from infants to older adults. We can help you improve your ability to understand speech, speak and communicate more clearly. We create a personalized plan for you, based on your specific needs. We can work with you on:

  • Cognitive communication
  • Fluency
  • Language
  • Speech
  • Swallowing disorders related to a brain injury, nervous system condition or stroke
