Babak Eghbalieh, MD

In addition to specializing in Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery and Robotic surgery techniques, Dr. Eghbalieh is an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery from UCSF, where he spent the last decade as academic faculty at UCSF Fresno Department of Surgery. During his tenure at UCSF Fresno, he served in many roles including: the Vice Chair of Surgery, Director of Robotic Surgery, Co-Director of the HPB and GI Oncology, the Cancer Liaison Physician (CLP) to the Commission on Cancer, the Chair of Cancer Committee, as well as the Chairman of the Executive Committee at Community Medical Centers (CMC) in Fresno, California.

Over the years he has accumulated numerous accolades including: Best Laparoscopic Surgeon in Fresno 2011, American Cancer Society’s 2012 “Physician Innovation Award” for his work with Pancreatic Cancer patients, Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s “2015 Man of Year for Central California”, as well as “Outstanding Leadership Award” 2009-2017 for his role in CMC Cancer Committee.

Over the years he has been very active in teaching the next generation of surgeons as well as multiple research publications, abstracts, presentations at national meetings and book chapters.

Dr. Eghbalieh is very passionate about his patients and takes pride in providing excellent multi-disciplinary care for them.

His practice includes surgical treatment of the following: primary and metastatic tumors of the Liver, Pancreas, Gallbladder, Biliary tree, Stomach and Foregut, Colon and Rectal, Sarcomas, Melanoma, surgical management of acute and chronic pancreatitis, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, Robotic and minimally invasive hernia repair as well as General Surgical procedures. He is affiliated with Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, and Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia.
