Shi-Wei Samuel Hwu, MD

As a primary care sports medicine physician, Dr. Hwu cares for athletes and active individuals from all types of backgrounds. He sincerely enjoys getting to know his patients and partnering with them to achieve their personal health goals. “I take a holistic approach to care, considering my patients’ physical, mental and emotional well-being,” he says. “My most important role is to ensure that each patient is heard and seen.”

A graduate of Duke University, Dr. Hwu attended the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the Tufts University Family Medicine Residency at Cambridge Health Alliance, and a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University – Fairfax Family Practice.

Dr. Hwu has extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of sports-related injuries and illnesses, and in the management of chronic medical conditions in athletes of all levels. He is board certified in family medicine and in sports medicine, and is registered in musculoskeletal sonography (RMSK).
