About Susan M. Maxwell

Dr. Maxwell’s extensive training and experience working at leading fertility programs in New York City and Southern California Reproductive Center equips her with the expertise needed to address complex fertility issues and ensures that her patients receive the most up-to-date and evidence-based care. Her areas of interest are embryonic genetic testing (Pre-implantation Genetic Testing for aneuploidy), fertility preservation in women with BRCA1/2 mutations or cancer, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and reproductive surgery for fibroids or endometriosis. Prior to joining Southern California Reproductive Center in Santa Barbara, CA, Dr. Maxwell served as a clinical assistant professor at the New York University School of Medicine, and the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Maxwell’s medical training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as her subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, was conducted at New York University Langone Medical Center, where she earned the Robert Porges Award for the outstanding chief resident and the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society In-Training Award, for her research in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Dr. Maxwell received her medical degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society for academic excellence. Dr. Maxwell has published extensively on Pre-implantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy and embryonic mosaicism in various medical journals, such as Fertility and Sterility, the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, and Reproductive Sciences. She regularly acts as a medical reviewer for the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics and Reproductive BioMedicine Online. Dr. Maxwell’s exceptional bedside manner is a testament to her genuine care and compassion for her patients. She approaches everyone with empathy, understanding the emotional and psychological impact of infertility. Her ability to connect with patients on a personal level fosters a supportive and comforting environment throughout their journey. Moreover, Dr. Maxwell’s personal experience with infertility adds a unique perspective, allowing her to empathize with the challenges her patients face and provide the compassionate support they need during their fertility treatment. Dr. Maxwell is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.
