About Amar J. Srivastava
Dr. Srivastava was first introduced to the field of Radiation Oncology when his brother-in-law was diagnosed with a glioblastoma. This experience showed Dr. Srivastava that a cancer diagnosis affects both a patient and their family and taught him to experience cancer care from the patient’s perspective. Dr. Srivastava was amazed by how a radiation oncologist can support both patients and families during one of the most difficult times of their lives and integrate advances in cancer care into the clinic to directly improve the lives of their patients. His favorite part of his job is telling a patient that they are in remission and/or have no evidence of disease after they have undergone an extensive course of cancer-directed therapies.
Dr. Srivastava was trained in Magnetic Resonance-Guided Radiation Therapy (MRgRT) during residency at the first center to utilize this technology in the U.S. and has over 4 years of experience with this technology. He is trained in MR-based adaptive radiotherapy, offered at The Oregon Clinic Radiation Oncology. Dr. Srivastava also brings extensive training in gynecologic and genitourinary high-dose rate brachytherapy, which is used to treat cervical/endometrial cancers and prostate cancer, respectively.
