About Sara H. Kim
For Sara H. Kim, M.D., her calling as a physician was inspired by the example of her father, who is also a radiation oncologist. Dr. Kim demonstrates an unwavering commitment to caring for her patients with excellence, kindness and compassion. She listens carefully to her patients, provides clear explanations, and includes them in their health care decisions. Her work at City of Hope® | Glendale continues more than two decades treating cancer patients in the local community. After earning her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Dr. Kim pursued postgraduate training that included an internship in internal medicine at West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Southern California. Among her areas of expertise are 3D conformal treatment planning, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, volumetric-modulated arc therapy, image-guided radiotherapy, Varian TrueBeam and brachytherapy, as well as stereotactic radiosurgery for metastatic brain and spine malignancies. Pasadena Magazine has recognized her on its list of “Top Doctors” for 13 consecutive years. Before City of Hope, Dr. Kim was medical director of radiation oncology at Adventist Health Glendale, where she received the patient-nominated Physician Hero of the Year Award in 2019. She is a member and former co-president of the Korean-American Society of Therapeutic Radiation Oncology.
