Emily C. Morgan, PhD

Dr. Morgan helps children, adolescents, parents and families learn how to live their best lives. “My job is to work myself out of a job,” she says. “I’m here to teach patients how to understand who they are, and to coach them through making meaningful changes to become who they want to be. I want them to walk away from our time together feeling confident in their abilities both to overcome hard times and to appreciate good times.”

Working with children and families has been her passion since she was young, from her early days as a “mother's helper” to her young adulthood as a nanny. Finally, she says, “I had the privilege to formally study, research and train to pursue my dream of working with children and families in an integrated behavioral health setting.” Today, Dr. Morgan works collaboratively with her patients to help them meet their specific values-based goals. While she brings expertise in psychology, child development and parenting, she says, “You are the expert on you.”

Dr. Morgan earned her Ph.D. in psychology at Western Michigan University after finishing her bachelor’s in psychology at Northern Illinois University. She completed her internship and fellowship at Munroe-Meyer Institute in Omaha, Neb.

Raised in a suburb of Chicago, she lived in the Midwest until she moved to Portland in 2020. “I had not set foot in Oregon until the day I moved here,” she says. Exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her dog, Prince, is now one of her favorite ways to spend her free time.
