About Elizabeth B. Chambers
Elizabeth Chambers, MD, grew up in a family with a lot of medical providers, physicians, and dentists. “I always loved science, and healthcare seemed a natural fit,” she says. Dr. Chambers chose psychiatry because it focused more on the individual rather than disease. “The history was my favorite part of the physical exam,” she explains. “I enjoyed getting to know people and where they come from, and I chose to specialize in child psychiatry because youth are full of promise and hope.”
In her practice, Dr. Chambers emphasizes treating the whole person, mind, and body. She always listens to her patients and builds trust in her relationships with them. She feels that her most important role as a provider is building a rapport with her patients so they have confidence to open up to her about their problems and concerns. “Do no harm is my first responsibility,” Dr. Chambers says, “and to make changes with patients that bring about a better quality of life.” She considers herself easy-going and a good listener who tries to give choices in treatment and involve her patients in the decision making.
Dr. Chambers earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She completed her internship, residency, and fellowship at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City.
Born in a military family, Dr. Chambers traveled a lot growing up and doesn’t consider herself being from any single place, but she loves living in Oregon. In her free time, she enjoys camping, hiking, spending time with her family and pets, traveling, and eating well. She also likes being creative, especially with fiber arts, spinning yarn, knitting, and sewing.
