Sarabjit S. Sandhu, MD

Sarabjit S. Sandhu, M.D. obtained his medical degree from Govt. Medical College, Amritsar, PB, India in 1981. After practicing a few years in India he moved to the United States. He completed Psychiatry Residency at King Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles in 1992. He completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at USC Institute of Psychiatry and the Law in 1993. He has extensive experience in dealing with the legal aspects of psychiatry, as well as clinical psychiatry. He has served as the Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry units and Partial Hospitalization Programs for over a decade. In addition he has been providing psychiatric consultations on complex, challenging patients on the medical floors and Intensive Care Units at Hoag, Fountain Valley and Orange Coast Memorial Hospital since 1994. Dr. Sandhu is also a consultant to the Emergency Rooms at these hospitals. Through the years he has won many awards and recognitions including the Physician of the Year, recognition from the County of Orange Board of Supervisors, the Mental Health Association of Orange County and the United States Congress for his outstanding contributions to mental health. He is involved with teaching medical students for the last many years, he is an active supervisor for their core clinical psychiatry rotations. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and is practicing in Newport Beach since 1993.

Dr. Sandhu is a member of American Psychiatric Association, Orange County Psychiatric Society, American Medical Association, American Medical Directors Association. He enjoys reading, working out in the gym, bike riding and traveling with family.
