Claudia P. Sanmiguel, MD

Claudia Sanmiguel, MD is an experienced Gastroenterologist committed to providing skilled, high quality and compassionate care to patients with Gastrointestinal disorders. Dr. Sanmiguel primary areas of clinical interest and research are Gastrointestinal Motility Disorders, including gastroesophageal disorders, GERD, constipation, and fecal incontinence. She has expertise in sophisticated GI motility tests for the assessment of patients with GI disorders. Dr. Sanmiguel has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and scientific reviews in areas including innovative treatments for GERD, gastroparesis and constipation; and on Brain-gut-microbiome interactions. She received her medical degree from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogota, Colombia; completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles; and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California Los Angeles. She completed research fellowships in Gastrointestinal Motility at the University of Alberta, Canada and at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland.

She loves reading books, anything from international spies novels (great for pandemic entertainment) to biographies, European XX century authors, and magical realism novels from Garcia Marquez. She loves traveling, she loves food, music, skiing (but she is not great at that) and spending time with family and friends; in summary she is a human being.
