Catherine I. Bargovan, PA-C

A lifelong love of science and service led Catherine to a career in medicine. In her first medical role, she practiced as a physical therapist in both adult and pediatric settings. When her mother developed a serious illness, Catherine began learning more about diseases, medications, and physiology. That personal experience inspired her to continue her education and become a physician associate. Catherine then practiced for over 15 years as a physician associate in emergency medicine and urgent care. Today, she employs all her knowledge and experience to help her patients optimize their function and quality of life.

A naturally curious person, Catherine enjoys learning as well as educating. “I enjoy a good deep dive into research and new treatment and diagnostic options,” she says. In addition to providing evidence-based care, she believes that her most important roles are as a teammate and advocate for her patients. “My emphasis is on open and honest communication, mutual respect, self-reflection, and humility,” says Catherine. “I collaborate with my patients when discussing treatment options and keep their goals – and their entire lives – in mind when making medical recommendations.”

A graduate of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich., Catherine completed her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Wayne State University in Detroit.

In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, both with her family and on her own. She loves dogs, lakes, forests, and cooking. As a volleyball and soccer player in her youth, she now enjoys watching her children participate in both sports.
