About Phillip Friesen
"I have always been drawn to the unique practice of medicine that comes with caring for children, and it has always been an honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of caring for your loved ones,” says Phillip Friesen, DO. “Like so many of my colleagues, my most important role is to provide calm reassurance during stressful situations, and to always make sure families and parents are provided all of the education and resources they need to feel comfortable and knowledgeable about their children.
“While I was born and raised in the south, I have always been enamored with the natural beauty and splendor of Oregon, along with all of its culture and ideals. I am beyond grateful to now call Oregon home!" Prior to joining Providence, Dr. Friesen, most recently cared for children in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas. During that time, he also served as a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics at The University of Texas at Austin, Dell Medical School. Dr. Friesen completed a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship and emergency medicine residency at The University of Texas at Austin. He earned his medical degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and serves on the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Committee. He has clinical interests in pediatric resuscitation and extending evidence-based quality care into community hospitals.
