About Roger A. Klein
Dr. Kleins orthopaedic career builds on a strong background of mechanical engineering education and experience. He graduated 1st in his class of B.S. mechanical engineers at Iowa State University in 1972. He then attended Stanford University on a full academic fellowship, earning his Master's Degree in mechanical engineering the following year. Along the way, Dr. Klein recieved engineering design experience at Caterpillar Exxon Offshore Drilling, and NASA Moffett Field. He then served four years Active Duty at the U.S. Air Force Weapons Lab in Albuquerque, New Mexico, working on high power laser projects.
Having excelled in his first career,l Dr. Klein chose to redirect his career aspirations into fields of medicine where he could be his own boss and more directly serve "people needs" with his background in engineering. He received his M.D. degree at the University of Mexico in 1981, and then pursued a five year residency training program in orthopaedic surgery (3 years at University of Mexico Hospitals plus 2 years at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston).
Following this long and arduous training process, Dr. Klein and his wife, Kim traveled the USA via motor home for 8 months of personal renewal and one-on-one orthopaedic training with pioneering orthopaedic surgery leaders of the time. Dr. Klein then associated with The Beloit Clinic, a large multi-specialty medical group in Beloit, Wisconsin where he honed his surgical skills for the next 2 years. In 1989, Dr. Klein relocated to Santa Rosa to be closer to his wife's Bay Area roots, and began building his private orthopaedic practice from the ground up.
