About Eric T. Owashi
Eric Owashi, M.D. Dr. Owashi, a native of Southern California, grew up always having a passion for patient care and started pursuing his career as a physical therapy aide, emergency room technician and certified nursing assistant prior to attending medical school. He graduated Cum Laude from University of California, San Diego with a dual major in Human Biology and Psychology. He went on to earn his medical degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. Completing his orthopedic residency and Dr. Owashi was chief resident at Westchester Medical Center, the only Level 1 trauma center between NYC and Albany with the highest case mix index of all hospitals in the United States. While receiving extensive training with several renowned surgeons, Dr. Owashi was also actively involved in research and has had multiple publications and poster presentations at national conferences and meetings. Following residency, he returned back to California to complete a fellowship in adult lower extremity reconstruction and joint replacement at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA. Dr. Owashi is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in lower extremity reconstructive surgery and total joint replacement. His area of expertise includes treatment of debilitating hip and knee arthritis and orthopedic trauma. He specializes in both primary and revision total joint replacement of the hip and knee. He also brings expertise in new surgical techniques including minimally invasive surgical procedures, posterior and anterior approach hip replacement surgery, computer navigation, as well as robotic total joint replacement. Dr. Owashi is an attending surgeon at Antelope Valley Hospital , Palmdale Regional Medical Center, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. Dr. Owashi provides patients with the highest standard of care in a compassionate fashion with his down-to-earth bedside manner. He utilizes a patient-centered treatment plan so that patients can make well-informed decisions about their care and have an active role in the process. His priority is to maximize use of non-operative treatments when surgery is avoidable, but provide minimally invasive procedures when necessary with the best treatment available for their injury or ailment. He is proud of the outstanding comprehensive care that AVORS provides for the community and strives to provide the best orthopedic care for his patients. During his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his fiancé and their corgi as well as playing tennis, basketball, and golf.
