About Yoshihiro Katsuura
Dr. Yoshihiro Katsuura is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex adult and pediatric spine care, treating patients ages 10 and older. He believes in using surgery only when necessary and in maximizing the use of minimally invasive techniques.
Although Dr. Katsuura focuses primarily on the care of the spine, he has also completed a second fellowship with Dr. William Bowen in adult joint reconstruction surgery (joint replacement) at Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits, California.
Dr. Katsuura has served on the spine surgery faculty at both Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Medical College and cared for patients in the New York metropolitan area. He is an Active Fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society, the premier international society for spinal deformity treatment and research. Currently, he runs his own private practice serving patients in Marin, Mendocino, Sonoma and San Francisco counties. He considers himself fortunate to be able to deliver world-class care to Northern California, his home.
In his spare time, Dr. Katsuura enjoys writing and illustration. He is the creator of The Spine Encyclopedia, a comprehensive, patient-oriented book about how to care for your back and neck. He also loves playing the piano and spending time with his pediatrician wife and two future space explorers.
