Michelle L. Monnie, MD

Dr. Monnie grew up in Gresham. She graduated magna cum laude from Willamette University in Salem with bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Spanish. She attended OHSU for her medical degree and completed her OB/GYN residency at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara, California. She is active in global health and Latina medicine where she traveled to Peru, Nicaragua as a student and and to Kenya as an OB/GYN resident. During her OB/GYN residency, Dr. Monnie was recognized for leadership, clinical excellence and compassionate patient care with a number of appointments and awards. She was named Chief Administrative Resident of her program and received the Best Scientific Presentation award for research from Kaiser Permanente. The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists recognized her for minimally invasive surgery skills, and the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine recognized her for excellence in obstetrics. Dr. Monnie was also inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Dr. Monnie loves all aspects of the OB/GYN specialty and considers it an honor to care for women. She particularly enjoys minimally invasive surgery, working with adolescents and taking care of Spanish-speaking patients. She is married to her high school sweetheart and enjoys bike riding, running, hiking and skiing. She is also active in church service. She and her husband love to travel and try new restaurants.
