Shannon C. Fife, DO

As a child who was often a medical patient, Dr. Shannon Fife wanted to become a doctor so that she could help people. She has always loved science and learning about the human body and how it works. In particular, she chose to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology because she enjoys taking care of women and their families and building relationships with them over generations. “I love how within my practice I am able to deliver a baby, offer a teenager’s first interaction with a gynecologist, perform surgery, manage pain and menstrual issues, support a patient transitioning through menopause, and even diagnose and care for a patient with uterine cancer,” she says. “And most rewarding is that I can continue relationships with all these patients through routine wellness exams and when they have recovered from illness or injury.”

Dr. Fife emphasizes prevention and screening as a foundation in her practice, as well as education so patients understand their care options. She values partnership with her patients, helping them decide the best, most effective treatment plan that is least invasive while meeting their goals and needs. What she loves most about her role is obstetric care. “Even after delivering thousands of babies,” she says, “I still love that moment when the new parents see their new baby for the first time. I don’t think that will ever get old.”

Dr. Fife earned her medical degree from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, and completed her residency with Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. Originally from Montana (along with her husband), Dr. Fife enjoys outdoor activities and watching her two daughters play sports and ride horses.
