JoAnne Shahnazi, OTR/L, CLT-LANA

Joanne Shahnazi is a highly experienced Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT-LANA) and Occupational Therapist. She has been practicing as an occupational therapist since 1985 and has been with Providence since 1987. In 2001, she founded the lymphedema clinic at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. Joanne is certified in two schools of lymphedema management: Le Duc (2001) and Norton (2012). She has successfully treated lymphedema patients and continuously stays updated with the latest research findings in the field. Joanne is known for her dedication to reducing swelling in patients, even in chronic cases, and for motivating them to actively participate in their therapy. She treats patients with lymphedema in any body part, whether they have a new or chronic diagnosis. She has provided care for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. Her 13 years of experience as a hand therapist enhance her expertise in treating patients with arm and hand lymphedema complications. From 2010 to 2024, Joanne founded and facilitated a lymphedema support group, offering a crucial resource for individuals affected by lymphedema. She is frequently invited to speak at cancer support groups and is a sought-after lymphedema resource for both medical professionals and the community.
