About Riyad Seervai
Dr. Seervai was born and raised in Bombay, India, and earned Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Music from Brown University. After a year in New York City (Rockefeller University by day, Carnegie Hall and the Met Opera by night), he joined the MD/PhD program at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. At Baylor, Riyad started an ASCO-sponsored oncology interest group and created a popular pathology/oncology pre-clinical course. For these efforts, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and received the Dean’s Distinction in Medical Education. He completed a cell biology Ph.D., then pivoted to research in oncodermatology, i.e., skin side-effects of cancer therapies.
