About Nathan K. McCoy
A fascination for science and a love of people is what drew Nathan McCoy, MD, to a career in medicine. "I've had the privilege of studying many areas of science and I get to use that knowledge to help care for patients and their families," says Dr. McCoy. "I chose primary care internal medicine because it allows me to develop trusting relationships that are necessary to help patients create long-lasting positive changes in their lives." In his practice, Dr. McCoy emphasizes preventive care and education. "It's important to take every measure to keep patients healthy and prevent disease," says Dr. McCoy. "When patients know why they should do certain things to improve their health, they become more engaged." After earning his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Dr. McCoy completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Utah Hospitals & Clinics. He is board certified in internal medicine. In his free time, Dr. McCoy enjoys traveling, camping and spending time with his wife, who is also a physician.

Dr. McCoy is the best physician I've ever had. He is both personable and knowledgeable. In the last 3 months until my office appointment I had no contact with office personnel so that is how I answered those questions. On the day of my appointment I was asked all of those questions. Please don't call me for a wellness check I don't need it!

I can't say enough about Dr. McCoy. He's thorough, knowledgeable, personable, and very helpful. I never feel rushed and always feel that he has a good grasp on my medical situation. I wouldn't want another primary doctor.
Providence Patient
Dr. McCoy is well informed about my specific condition and its management, and thoughtfully incorporates the data I provide and my preferences to come up with a good recommendation for adjusting self care.

Providence Patient
The most recent visit, the doctor talked with me for almost an hour. I was happy that he spent the time instead of the normal time of 30 minutes or less. We discussed several things, which was nice.
Providence Patient
I appreciate Dr McCoy's taking the time to assess with me my health trajectory and to usefully consider and support my treatment options.
