About Sarah L. Keating

Dr. Sarah Keating is the Medical Director of the Palliative Care Division. She is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, and hospice and palliative care who treats kids and teens in Orange County. Dr. Keating attended medical school at Albany Medical College in Albany, NY where she obtained membership into both AOA and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her pediatric and internal medicine residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where she received the honor of Resident of the Year and Resident-As-Teacher of the Year. She completed her Palliative and Hospice Medicine fellowship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She cherishes the opportunity to teach the next generation of medical students and residents and believes that through learning we can become the stewards of a more supportive and comforting medical culture. As the Medical Director of Palliative Care at CHOC, she focuses on inpatient and outpatient services with a physician-led interdisciplinary consult team that works to meet all the palliative care needs of patients and families. Additionally, she is working to build a comprehensive hospital-wide palliative care education program to include formal and informal educational sessions tailored to every level and discipline of medical staff. Dr. Keating’s research interests include traditional and non-traditional forms of pain and symptom management, emotional intelligence/awareness, and grief and bereavement support.
