Colin Gause, MD

Colin D. Gause, M.D., received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. He then completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, research fellowships at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Lurie Children's Hospital, followed by a pediatric surgery fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University.

"I immediately fell in love with pediatric surgery when I realized the degree of impact pediatric surgeons have in the life of a child. Not only do they save lives but, by providing excellent surgical care, can have a major effect in a person's life, all the way from infancy to adulthood. The magnitude of that cannot be overstated. In addition, the field is intellectually fascinating, and the kids are fun!"

Dr. Gause provides care for children in the spectrum of pediatric general surgical conditions, including head and neck, esophageal, pulmonary, chest wall, gastrointestinal, liver, biliary, pancreatic, anorectal disorders, and hernias, with a focus on a minimally invasive approach to correction when feasible.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Gause enjoys spending time with his wife, bicycling, hiking, painting, extensively sampling Portland's food and wine scene, and traveling whenever possible.
