Melissa M. Lin, MD

"Early on I decided that the best way to make an impact in my life was to serve or help others," said Melissa Lin, M.D. That feeling led her to join the Peace Corps in 2008 where she served for two years as a community health educator in Swaziland. "It was there that I was able to see all the different ways people give aid. Whether it be through a non-profit organization, teaching, healing or providing basic needs. What I liked most was the relationship that physicians and nurses had with their patients and the actual solutions they provided for their ailments. That experience led to my decision to pursue medicine," Dr. Lin says.

As a provider, Dr. Lin says her most important role is to create an honest and trusting relationship with her patients, and to provide the best care that is possible. "I want to be a trustworthy and knowledgeable guide for a patient's medical journey which at times can be confusing, frustrating, and stressful," she says.

Dr. Lin received her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson. She then completed an internship and residency at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Lin is board certified in general surgery.

Dr. Lin is originally from Southern California. Her husband is a family medicine physician and they have two young children. As a family they enjoy traveling, exploring nature, all water related activities, and eating good food with family and friends.
