About Sajen J. Mathews
My father was a factory worker and had great ambitions for me. He spent almost half of his salary on my education. The day I was accepted into the India Institute of Technology, the world’s finest engineering school, was one of the happiest of his life. Imagine his disappointment when I quit after a year to go to medical school. It was very difficult to tell my father, but I knew I had a passion for medicine and making a difference in people’s lives.
The collaboration between St. Jude Medical Center and St. Jude Heritage Medical Group allows me to focus on medical advancements, and practicing at the state-of-the-art Knott Family Endoscopy Center ensures my patients have access to the newest technology and treatment options available today.
Offering the latest procedures with the newest techology is a vital component of my practice, but I believe it is equally important to treat patients the way I would want to be treated. I take the time to listen to my patients’ concerns, educate them about their options and work with them to improve their health and well-being. This is why I became a doctor.

I just feel that I wasn't listened to. My appt was quick, and I was sent on my way. When I reached out in My Chart I was minimized and told I didnt really need anymore treatment. Also, blood work was requested. I am anemic, which was the whole reason we ran the tests. The dr has yet to address that. I am using google to figure out what supplements might help me replenish my blood supply from all the blood I lost while in the hospital.

The doctors and their support teams have been outstanding in their care. But it has been challenging to schedule physical therapy post-op, or routine colonoscopy in a timely manner. Caveat: I do understand Dr. Mathews will be changing his schedule, and I do still want him to do the screening, so I can expect a delay.
