Christopher E. Komisarz, DO

His early career as a paramedic motivated Dr. Komisarz to become a physician so that he could do more for his patients. He chose family medicine because he wanted to support the health of individuals and families. “It’s wonderful making connections with patients and taking care of families, from babies to great-grandparents,” he says.

“Health and wellness are largely in the hands of patients,” says Dr. Komisarz, “and my most important role is to be an advisor, advocate, and partner in their health. Since most of my patients’ lives happen outside of the clinic, I try to understand everything that may be affecting their health – from their motivations to their barriers, life experiences, stresses and successes – and to integrate that into very patient-specific care.”

Originally from Chicago, Dr. Komisarz attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before completing his medical education at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He moved west for his residency at Community Health Care in Tacoma, Wash., and now loves living in Portland.

When he’s not seeing patients, Dr. Komisarz enjoys playing hockey, tending to his vegetable garden, going to live shows and spending time with his family.
