About Janet E. Patin
Dr. Patin believes the patient is the most important member of the care team. "It's a privilege to participate in people's lives and help in both health and illness. Family physicians specialize in the whole person within the family. We care for physical, mental and spiritual well-being."
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native says she's wanted to be a doctor as long as she can remember. Two of her childhood friends' parents were doctors she greatly admired, providing lifelong inspiration. "Medicine provides so many opportunities to help others," she says.
A board-certified physician, Dr. Patin earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Yale University. She completed her internship and residency at Oregon Health & Sciences University, where she was chief resident.
She is interested in health policy, was co-chair of the statewide Medicaid Advisory Committee, and is now active on the Oregon Health Authority's Immunization Practice Advisory Team. She worked in rural Oregon in Reedsport for 18 years before returning to the Portland area with Providence in Gresham. When she's not working, Dr. Patin enjoys gardening, creative writing and playing the harp.
