Sheila S. Zia, FNP

Being a health care provider, Sheila says, is “all I ever wanted to do.” As a family nurse practitioner, she believes that her most important roles are to advocate for her patients, to ask the right questions, to be a good listener, to learn, and to be willing to be wrong.

“Healing is a partnership,” she says. “It requires building trust, practicing compassion, and realizing that while I may have knowledge, I will never know everything. I learn so much from my patients! It's not just me telling them what to do – they also need to be willing to do their part.”

Sheila completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing, as well as her nursing internship, at Oregon Health & Science University. She also has training in functional medicine and clinical medical hypnosis.

A mother of three and grandmother of seven, Sheila has been happily married for 25 years. Offering a glimpse of her sense of humor, she adds: “I am constantly rescuing senior dogs, my favorite ice cream flavor is bubble gum, and I am afraid of clowns.”
