About Rebecca M. Fort
With a background in classical education and nonprofit management, Rebecca Fort, PA-C, has always loved communicating ideas and inspiring others to ask questions and understand the world. “When considering the field of medicine as a stable and challenging professional field, I saw how every patient encounter is one for educating and inspiring, and making a difference in the minds and bodies of people,” Rebecca says. “Medicine brings science and math (which I love) together in a unique way that challenges me.”
In her practice, Rebecca tries to bring humor and frankness to what can be difficult topics to discuss for patients. Making people feel comfortable and honest is one of her goals. In addition, “I lean on evidence-based medical practice, which is especially important when the value of scientific data is challenged in our society today,” she says. Rebecca feels that her most important role is to empower and educate patients about their health, and be as thorough as possible when evaluating someone’s symptoms. She enjoys being a voice of authority and giving an explanation for the symptoms that patients experience, and also being encouraging with them in times of fear or pain. “I enjoy the work required to find answers and consider all options when evaluating a symptom,” Rebecca says. She also says that it is the patient’s goals and choices that drive the plan of care. “Trust between me and the patient is essential,” she adds.
Rebecca earned her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Marshall B Ketchum University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Biola University.
Rebecca has lived all along the West Coast and also in Chicago, Illinois, for a few years. She loves both literature and science, art, and math. She’s a pianist and hopes to have a family band with her husband and kids someday. She’s always looking for ways to keep exercise and meditation a part of her busy life in a two-working-parent home with school-age kids.
